Random thoughts on my Canon gear

Having been a Nikon user for many years, investing in Canon equipment was certainly a major move for me. Initially, I found some difficulty in adjusting to the Canon system as far as setting up the cameras. As a professional, the one major problem I had was that I could not visualize what the Canon sensor would do.

Over the past 3 months, I’ve been shooting with Canon gear for an upcoming exhibition and book. I believe I’m beginning to get to know the system a lot better and am becoming more proficient at it. I pretty  much know how the sensor will react to various scenes. I’ve been shooting at ISO 1600 with the Canon 5D Mk II and Canon 1D Mk IV. Here are some of results of the shoot.

I intend to follow up with a post on my experiences with the Canon 1D Mk IV and Canon 5D Mk II. There are those who will use nothing but a particular brand of camera. As I will be conducting some workshops in the near future, I felt that it was necessary to be conversant with both Nikon and Canon. To be perfectly honest, I also have to be familiar with other brands of equipment. Very often during the workshop, my students will have questions specific to their brand of camera.
